Under Construction! The Skyline 767 Tiny House on Wheels!

by Chris Howell
(Greensboro, NC)

My first tiny house venture, very much under construction, but wanted to share what I've gotten so far. Built on a 20' trailer, the house features 2 7' sleeping lofts, a skywalk (sky crawl in reality) connecting them, and 3 large skylights. The design is my own, and I think the finished house will look pretty cool. I built in a 2' kickout over the tongue to facilitate a decent size bathroom, so all in all I think it will be pretty spacious.

Like many, I have a full time job and have done 100% of the work by myself during evenings and weekends. Will submits more pics as I progress, plan to move in in April 2014 when my current house lease ends.

Once this one is done, I am seriously considering a small business venture building these for others, wish me luck! Give me a shout if you are in the Greensboro area and would like to take a look, always happy to swap ideas.

Update and additional photos
by: Chris Howell

Hey guys, brief update. Been working mostly on the interior for the past couple months. Plumbing and electric are complete, about 60% done with interior wall covering. I've set up a website where you can see a lot more pics of the construction progress. Will plant to update there. Here's the address...

love double loft
by: myzmaria

I bought plans (which I intend to modify because I also want a double loft feature), now on to buy property that will allow me to build onsite. My landlords won't let me build on a removable trailer here at the place I'm renting. Your place is going to be great! Can't wait to see more pics. Wish you good luck. So far I'm just doing a bit of overtime so I can purchase some land now....

Retirement house?
by: Susan

We(my husband and I)live in Colorado with family in the Greenville, SC area. Upon retirement we are considering a tiny house in that area to be closer to family. Would it be possible to see your house on one of our future visits to SC? We travel there at Christmas time and also Spring/Summer. By the way your home looks great and I wish you the best on your building venture.
Have a blessed day!

Alex,
I know you were hacked and that sucks but where to view comments on the new page? I just don't see it though it may be staring me in the face.
Looks good by the way. You look secure now too!

skylights?
by: Doc

Just wondering, "three skylights'. Could this be three dormers or does it also have three skylights as well? That would be cool with all that light pouring in.
Either way it looks like it will be nice when finished.
Also wondering how the catwalk/crawl will be finished. Railing? Protective mesh? Cattle fence? Just wondering...
It would appear from both ends of this comment I am just full of wonder today!

Such a unique design!
by: Judy

I love the idea of a sky crawl as you've dubbed it! It would make it feel like a second floor vs just 2 lofts.I would much rather have less overall head room and this design. Love the skylights also. I think you really have something here, and hope others recognize your genius idea!

Nice!!!!
by: Devon

Just wanted to give you encouragement - it looks nice and will be glad to see more photos as you can post them. Hope you're keeping notes on what speedbumps you run into to help others avoid them as they build. Best wishes~

Good Job!
by: Anonymous

Nice Job, man!

I love the tiny Dorner windows, adds tons of character.
Would love to see more of the interior layout when you're ready... Please share!
I guess what most of us would-be tiny haus builders want to get a better grasp on is the financial aspect, and the potential pitfalls and construction tips that you've learned along the way, as always, any advice is much appreciated!
Wishing you happy times in your happy haus!

Best Regards,
John.
